Visitors Center
The Downtown York Visitors Center is managed by the York County
Convention and Visitors Bureau. Conveniently located at 149 W.
Market Street in downtown, the visitors center is easily accessible
to those who travel to downtown by auto, bike or on foot. The
center is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
and extended hours during downtown events.
The York County Heritage Trust operates a satellite gift shop
within the center as well, where patrons will find a wide variety
of gifts and collectibles related to York.
Walking Tour of Historic York
The first-ever self-guided walking tour booklet for Historic
Downtown York is available for sale at a variety of attractions,
restaurants, shops and area visitors centers. This user-friendly
booklet features short historic narratives, exterior photos
and an easy-to-use map indicating the location of the 34 landmark
sites selected for the tour. each site is marked with a keystone-shaped
"Historic York Walking Tour" pewtarex plaque. The
booklets sell for $1 and proceeds are earmarked for brochure
reprinting and walking tour promotion. Brochures can be ordered
through the mail by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope

Over the summer, the Vaughn L. Beals Tour Center will be open
Saturdays 9 am - 12 pm, with the exception of July 5. (The new
Saturday hours do not include factory tours, which are offered
only on weekdays.)

Witness a legend in the making at Harley-Davidson's York Vehicle
Operations. The Vaughn L. Beals Tour Center features exhibits
that detail the plant's history, assembly and manufacturing
processes, and Custom Vehicle Operations. It also includes sit-on
bikes, a souvenir shop, theater and children's area. The plant
tour begins with a brief movie in the theater and then journeys
through various manufacturing and assembly areas on the shop
floor where you'll learn about the people, processes and products
of York.
Tours begin at regular intervals between the hours of 9 am and
2 pm Monday through Friday. Free tickets are distributed on
a first-come, first-served basis for each day's available tours.
It is recommended that you arrive early in the day. Groups of
10 or more are required to make a reservation by calling 717-852-6590.
All tour guests over age 18 must present a valid government-issued
photo ID, pass through a metal detector and complete a tour
registration card. Packages (backpacks, camera bags, etc.) are
not permitted in the plant. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Children under 12 are not permitted in the plant.
Souvenir shop and Tour Center hours are from 8 am to 4 pm Monday
through Friday, and 9 am to 12 pm Saturdays.
